Our Story

Our sewing and fabric store - The Sew'N Place - founded in 1982 - was added on and upgraded in 2022, not just to enhance our regular customer's experience, but to welcome everyone, sewist or not, to experience our unique business. By adding a cafe to our existing business, we hoped to welcome the general public into our beloved store. Being in the Caledonia State Forest area, we designed our cafe to bring in elements of our local area. Upon entering you can enjoy our unique antique sewing machine gallery while also enjoying relics of days gone by and tokens that tie our place to our area. Here you will be welcomed by porch swings, rockers, camping memorabilia, photos, postcards, a totem pole, and other historical items from our past and more. Our owners believed that the old sewing machines are relevant even for those who may never have sewn. These machines not only changed the world but are connections to our past, our loved ones and a testament to the beauty of engineering from the industrial revolution.
